Jensen Ackles Breaks Silence on Tracker 4: Set Photos and First Episode Teasers

Only a few weeks ago, Justin Hartley had reassured Tracker fans by confirming the return of Jensen Ackles and his portrayal of Russell Shaw for the fourth season of the popular TV series, but this time it was the star of The Boys who offered fresh information and confirmations. And that’s not all: CBS shared the initial updates on the plot of the upcoming cycle of episodes, providing a new context for its protagonist.

Ackles did not waste any time, picking up on his colleague’s statements from a few weeks prior and visually confirming his return to the Tracker set for the fourth season. The actor shared a couple of behind-the-scenes selfies, captioning them: “After a long and well-deserved summer break with the family… it’s good to be back on set.”

In recent years, Jensen Ackles has been particularly active on the TV front: he starred in The Boys portraying Soldier Boy, a character who will also be carried into the prequel spin-off Vought Rising coming to streaming in 2027, as well as leading Countdown on Prime Video. In the meantime, he played the older brother of Colter Shaw, and his return for a fourth season was first hinted by Justin Hartley and then confirmed by the actor himself with eloquent behind-the-scenes shots. But when and how Russell will reappear on screen remains unknown for now. The third season ended with a twist that raised the stakes for the two brothers and pushed Russell toward a new, dangerous mission.

Meanwhile, CBS revealed new details about the first episode of the fourth season, originally titled Safe Harbor, and scheduled to premiere on the American network on October 4, 2026 (while it’s unclear when it will be available for streaming on Disney+). It appears that when Colter returns to action in the fourth season, his journey will begin by pursuing a new case: pursuing the missing father of a teenager, Colter will encounter a criminal organization at the Los Angeles port.

In the cast also features Fiona Rene again as Reenie Greene and Chris Lee as Randy, both having become valuable supporting characters for Colter. The location teased by CBS is also intriguing since the first three seasons were shot in Ontario, while the fourth season has shifted production to California, specifically to Los Angeles.
