Jeremy Sisto Turns 52: 3 TV Series That Made Him Famous

There are actors who can enter households (and hearts) of millions of TV viewers and stay there from one series to the next, becoming a fixed, familiar presence. Jeremy Sisto, born in Grass Valley on October 6, 1974, is undoubtedly one of them. The actor turns 52 today and celebrates an extraordinary career, rich in successes and characterized by remarkable versatility, capable of effortlessly shifting from the deepest psychological drama to the fast-paced rhythms of the police procedural. To celebrate him in the best possible way, here are three cult TV series that made him famous and cemented him in the public eye.

Three Cult TV Series Featuring Jeremy Sisto

Of Italian-American descent, Jeremy Sisto was born in Grass Valley, California but raised in Chicago, Illinois. He makes his acting debut on screen and stage in the early ’90s, taking part in various films and TV series with small appearances and supporting roles.

But the real breakthrough arrives in the early 2000s with the celebrated HBO series Six Feet Under. Set around the Fisher family and their funeral home business, Sisto plays Billy Chenowith, Brenda’s brother, a brilliant yet tormented, complex character, afflicted with bipolar disorder. The actor, with this role, immediately demonstrates his great acting talents, able to move from moments of artistic genius to moments of deep and painful fragility.

But in 2008 the actor changes completely in genre and register, debuting in the cult series Law & Order—the two faces of justice. Here he takes on the role of detective Cyrus Lupo, a reflective, highly intelligent character with a pronounced intuitive side, scarred by a painful past. This iconic TV series not only establishes him with a wide audience but also marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career within the police procedural genre and the start of a collaborative artistic partnership with producer Dick Wolf.

In 2018, this bond is strengthened with the TV series FBI, where the actor plays Jubal Valentine, the acting supervising special agent in charge, the beating heart of the operations center, the one who coordinates all investigative matters, with great charisma, professionalism, and a pinch of irony that never hurts and that has made him decidedly iconic!
