Jesse Eisenberg Turns to TV With an Ambitious Project After Box Office Success

Jesse Eisenberg has chosen the small screen for his next project. After completing his latest film as screenwriter and director, The Debut, Eisenberg has joined forces with the production studio behind it, A24, for an as-yet-untitled series in which he will serve as screenwriter, director, and executive producer—a project that will be presented to streaming platforms in the coming weeks.

Jesse Eisenberg: the First Details of His New TV Series

Eisenberg, whose last television commitment was in 2022, in FX’s miniseries Fleishman Is in Trouble, has written a story that serves as the inspiration for the series. This follows the events of a young woman whose worldview is challenged by new ideas and relationships. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet at the London Film Festival, Eisenberg explained that the story is set in the autumn of 2002 and follows the protagonist, an eighteen-year-old, against the backdrop of the early so-called “culture wars,” an ideological and value-based conflict between social groups with opposing worldviews.

Netflix could be one of the services in the running for the series, since the platform already hosts a high-profile A24 production, Beef, which has received 11 Emmy nominations. In addition, the still-untitled spy drama starring Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour from Stranger Things will soon join the lineup.
