Just a few days ago someone had written off the saga as dead, tangled in a web of false starts, but the announcement posted on X from the official account of Saw leaves no room for doubt and is accompanied by an unequivocal teaser: Saw 11 is real, in fact for now an “Untitled Saw“, but the name of the chosen director is revealed, and in conjunction with the post all the personalities and companies involved in the saga have confirmed. Yes, Jigsaw is about to return… and he will imprison. After all, it’s his specialty.

Saw 11 finally unlocked in the joy of the fandom, James Wan confirms
Considering that the saga inaugurated by Saw in 2004 is made up of low-budget productions, the three years since the last Saw X had left the fandom rather perplexed, especially recalling its solid audience success (over $125 million at the box office on a budget ten times smaller). In fact, between 2024 and 2025 the saga ran into trouble, because creative differences caused the eleventh feature slated for September 2024, Saw XI, to fall through, still directed by the series veteran Kevin Greutert. That project was canceled due to the resistance of one of the involved companies, Twisted Pictures, whose stake in the brand was later acquired by Blumhouse, which more than a year ago revived the creative process with the original author James Wan. Wan, together with Jason Blum and Lionsgate, thus launched the new Saw storyline, selecting as director Mike P. Nelson, author of other horrors such as Wrong Turn – The Foundation, The Domestics and more recently the slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night and the upcoming Beware Boiúna. “Mike has a raw, distinctive cinematic voice, with an inventive approach to the genre, I believe he will bring something truly original and special to the franchise,” Wan commented. The new screenplay is written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock, already on the Dune: Prophecy staff: the script is for Nelson “untamed, faithful to the original’s mystery, while exploring bloody new ideas“. The fandom asks for nothing more: we will wait to learn details on plot, cast, and release date.
