Julianne Moore Makes Theatrical Debut in Jesse Eisenberg’s New Film – Italian Trailer

Tomorrow, at the Rome Film Festival, Julianne Moore will receive a well-deserved career award; and also tomorrow, still at the Festival, the Italian premiere of the new film starring the American actress titled The Debut – The Great Opportunity will be presented, and it will arrive in Italian cinemas on January 1, 2027, distributed by I Wonder Pictures in collaboration with Unipol Biografilm Collection.
The film marks Jesse Eisenberg‘s third directorial work (also writer), following When You Finish Saving the World and A Real Pain, and presents Moore in the role of Mona Friedman, a shy and reserved woman whose life changes forever when she is chosen to join an amateur theatre company. Spurred by a director determined to bring out her talent, Mona becomes a tenacious and passionate actress, ready to do anything to defend her role and her artistic vision. A journey that will ultimately restore her command over her own life.
In the shoes of this director, another great actor like Paul Giamatti, whom we have seen over the years as either a character actor or a leading man in many films, almost always independent, and of significant success. Completing the cast are Halle Bailey of The Little Mermaid, and Eisenberg himself.
