Julianne Moore Receives Career Award at Festa del Cinema

America Today, with that nude scene which, for its time, was a real provocation, and then Safe, Far from Heaven, I’m Not There and May December by Todd Haynes, Boogie Nights and Magnolia by Paul Thomas Anderson, The Big Lebowski by the Coen Brothers. And then many other films, including the recent The Room Next Door by Pedro Almodóvar, obviously alongside the Oscar for Still Alice. There is little doubt: Julianne Moore is one of the most representative actresses of the last decades of cinema, and thus the Career Award that the Rome Film Festival has decided to award her for its XXI edition, which will be held from October 13 to 25, 2026 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone.
A Rome Julianne Moore will present the new film in which she stars, The Debut, directed by Jesse Eisenberg, who will be the one handing her the prize on the Auditorium stage.
In Eisenberg’s third directing effort, and produced by A24, The Debut follows Julianne Moore in the role of a shy and insecure woman from New Jersey who, somewhat surprisingly, is cast in a major part in a local production of a musical directed by a brusque and decisive director (Paul Giamatti) who will push her to her limits. And beyond.
Below is the official trailer for the film.
