Buddy? He’s orange, has a horn, an irresistible smile and a song for every occasion. For generations of children, he has been much more than a television character: an inseparable friend, a guide, a bundle of cheer and good feelings. Everyone loves Buddy. Buddy loves everyone. But there’s a rule: never make him angry. Behind all that enthusiasm lies something decidedly less reassuring. After captivating American audiences, Buddy, Casper Kelly’s horror that turns the most innocent children’s program into a colorful and out-of-control nightmare, arrives in Italian cinemas from December 2, distributed by Be Water Film in collaboration with PiperFilm.

Buddy: the plot and cast of Casper Kelly’s horror film
Welcome to the wonderful world of Buddy!, where a group of children spends their days singing, dancing, and learning alongside its beloved lead. Here there’s always a song to sing, a lesson to learn. Everyone is friends. And no one should ever stop smiling. When a child decides not to follow the rules, however, Buddy’s perfect world begins to show cracks. The songs become unsettling, the smiles increasingly sinister, and the TV’s most adorable unicorn reveals a side no one would have wanted to see. Because Buddy wants only one thing: that everyone is happy. Whether they want it or not.
Among smiling puppets, obsessive melodies, bright colors and a joy that skirts madness, Casper Kelly takes the reassuring imagery of children’s television and turns it into a delirious universe, where nostalgia blends with horror, and even a smile can become a threat. Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW, Buddy marks the feature debut of Casper Kelly, the creator of the viral phenomenon Too Many Cooks, who co-writes the film with Jamie King. In the cast Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Topher Grace, and Michael Shannon, with Keegan-Michael Key, the original voice of Buddy, and Patton Oswalt.
