Finally, September 4 has arrived, and this is for all fans of Luciano Ligabue: tonight they will be able to see and hear their idol in a documentary titled Luciano, first of all, filmed for the opening concert of Milan’s Santa Giulia arena, The First Night. It was May 2026, and alongside the stunning footage of the evening, the film blends a long interview with the Correggio-born rocker conducted by Vera Spadini, who helped shape the film together with Giacomo La Gioia and Fabio Mastrapasqua.
Luciano, first of all airs tonight at 9:15 PM on Sky Documentaries and streaming on NOW. We will watch Ligabue recounting his beginnings, with the guitar gifted to him by his father and the early shows in a provincial venue. We’ll hear him tell us about his first Campovolo and his international concerts, and, of course, the joy of playing alongside his son Lenny. Accompanying the closing credits of the documentary is Something for You (Warner Music Italy), the new single written by the artist and produced by Federico Nardelli and Fabrizio Barbacci. Since August 21 it has been on radio, so you know it well. Luciano, first of all, which will always be available on demand, is a Sky production created by Sky Content Factory.

Regarding Luciano, first of all, we want to show you today an exclusive preview clip. We especially loved it because it deals with the debut behind the camera of the rock star, namely Radiofreccia, released in 1998. Inspired by some accounts from the book “Dentro e fuori dal borgo”, by the same Ligabue, it was produced by Domenico Procacci and achieved extraordinary success. It takes us back to the mid‑1970s, specifically to the era when the first free radios were born. The story unfolds in the Reggio area, and the film’s perspective is that of Bruno, the founder of Radio Raptus, which later became Radiofreccia. The film is a long flashback, in which Bruno’s closest friends are not missing. Among them, Ivan Benassi, nicknamed Freccia, portrayed by a young Stefano Accorsi. Ultimately, he is the film’s most important character, and his monologue on the radio about his beliefs remains unforgettable.
In the cast of Radiofreccia there was even Francesco Guccini, who sadly passed away recently. In the clip you will see, Luciano Ligabue talks about the beginnings of his first cinematic venture, confessing that he enjoyed cinema, but that the idea of writing a screenplay and especially of being behind the camera somewhat frightened him.
After Radiofreccia, for which he won the David di Donatello for Best Debut Director, Ligabue directed Da zero a dieci (2002) and Made in Italy (2018), which drew on his eponymous concept album. Also in this third film the lead actor was Stefano Accorsi.
