“He has never met anyone like her.” This is the premise that accompanies the very first trailer for Stay Still, the new film directed by M. Night Shyamalan, which will arrive in Italian theaters on February 4, 2027 distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The screenplay is by the same Shyamalan, who wrote it based on the eponymous romance novel by the king of romantic bestsellers Nicholas Sparks, one of the writers most frequently adapted for the cinema in recent decades (The Notebook, The Words I Never Said, Dear John and The Steps of Love, to name a few).
The protagonist of the story is Tate Gordon, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, a solitary architect who moves to a small coastal town to finish his latest project. His life changes when he encounters a captivating young woman, an meeting that pushes him out of his isolation and leads him to the center of a dark mystery that seems to loom over the entire community.

In the cast, alongside Gyllenhaal we find Phoebe Dynevor, Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty and Jay O. Sanders. The film is produced by Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock and Theresa Park, with Sparks serving as executive producer. To complete the technical team are, among others, the director of photography Adolpho Veloso, production designer Sam Lisenco, editor Noëmi Preiswerk, costume designer Caroline Duncan and composer James Newton Howard.
