In 2016 Fede Alvarez, after the bloody reboot of The House, directed Don’t Breathe, which we have always translated in English as Man in the Dark, a suspense-driven thriller that subverts the home invasion genre by telling the story of a robbery against a blind war veteran who manages to defeat his attackers. The film enjoyed excellent box office success, so much so that in 2021 a sequel was released, with direction by Rodo Saguayes, which did not fare as well and earned less than half. Now, however, Fede Alvarez has announced, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary screening of the first at Beyond Fest in Santa Monica, that there will be a third film in the series, whose screenplay was written by himself with Saguayes. Attending the Q&A that followed the screening were also the stars Jane Levy, Stephen Lang and Dylan Minnette.
Man in the Dark 3: the showdown between Levy and Lang
Alvarez has confirmed that Jane Levy and Stephen Lang, namely Rocky and the Blind Man, will reprise their respective roles in the third film, which will stage the final showdown between the two (although in these cases it is risky to speak of an ending, it will depend on how the market responds). The first, as we said, was a success that grossed worldwide $157 million, on a budget of $10 million, while the second, centered on Lang’s character and without the antagonist played by Levy, grossed nearly $54 million. It is likely you may not remember it, while you have certainly heard of the first even if you haven’t seen it. Here we present again the trailer.
