Across the globe she is simply Margot Robbie. A name now inseparable from films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Suicide Squad, C’era una volta a… Hollywood and of course Barbie. Yet, almost ten years after marrying producer Tom Ackerley, the Australian actress has decided to make a significant change, at least on paper.
In new documents filed in the United Kingdom related to LuckyChap Entertainment, her production company, the actress is listed as Margot Elise Ackerley, rather than Margot Elise Robbie. The change comes a few months before the couple’s tenth wedding anniversary, having married in December 2016.

Margot and Tom met in 2013 on the set of Suite Française: she was part of the cast, while he worked as an assistant director. After being friends for some time, the two began a relationship and in 2014 they founded LuckyChap Entertainment together with Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr.
They later married in December 2016 with a private ceremony in Australia and in 2024 they became the parents of their first child. In the meantime, their partnership has also become professional: through LuckyChap they have worked on projects such as I, Tonya, Promising Young Woman, Saltburn and, above all, Barbie.

However, the change does not mean that we will have to get used to reading “Margot Ackerley” on the posters of her upcoming films.
At the moment no professional-name change has been announced and everything suggests the actress will continue to use Margot Robbie for her career both in front of and behind the camera. In fact, in the credits of her most recent works she still appears with the surname by which she became famous worldwide.
Thus, at least for now, it’s a distinction between the name used in corporate documents and the artistic name
Margot Robbie’s upcoming projects
The surname change comes at a particularly intense moment in the career of the actress and producer, who already has several projects in the works.
Among the most awaited is the new film linked to the Ocean’s universe, a prequel set in 1962 during the Monaco Grand Prix. Robbie will star opposite Bradley Cooper, who will also handle directing and the screenplay. The film will tell the parents of Danny Ocean, described as the two masters from whom the future star of Ocean’s Eleven would have learned everything he knows. Release is scheduled for June 25, 2027.
Parallel to this, her work as a producer through LuckyChap continues to grow. Among the projects in development tied to the company are very curious adaptations such as The Sims and Monopoly.
