The Dexter universe has also welcomed Jack Alcott, the young star chosen to portray the son of the famed killer with the likeness of Michael C. Hall, introduced in Dexter: New Blood and returned in Dexter: Resurrection, a sequel revival of Dexter set after the events of the other spin-off. With a second season available for streaming on Paramount+ from October 30, 2026, Dexter: Resurrection has brought Dexter Morgan back on screen but alongside his son Harrison, and Jack Alcott seized the opportunity to recount what precious lesson he learned from Michael C. Hall on set.
Dexter: Resurrection, Jack Alcott reveals the advice he received from Michael C. Hall that changed his approach to acting
Jack Alcott is grateful to Michael C. Hall, especially because he helped him in a moment of extreme indecision on set. At the New York premiere of the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, Alcott recounted the lesson imparted by his co-star during a moment of hesitation, torn between two different approaches to a scene to shoot. “If you have two choices and you feel blocked, there are two different directions you could take. The answer is to do both. Play both cards. You don’t have to oversimplify everything so much.” And this, as an actor, opened up an infinite number of doors for me in general.
Introduced in Dexter: New Blood in 2021, Jack Alcott plays the son of the serial killer Dexter. Between them, naturally the relationship is tense, difficult to manage, and over the course of the second season Harrison continues with his own quest for justice as father and son face “the darkest chapter of their story”, according to the synopsis. Dexter, moreover, is grappling with an unexpected foe: a midlife crisis.
Some time ago, speaking to People, the actor portraying Harrison revealed that behind the scenes they rarely rehearse lines or engage in physical preparation: “We almost never practice the lines. We focus and move forward. We prefer it to dive straight into the heart of the action, so everything feels fresher,” Alcott said. Among the new additions to the cast of the second season are Dan Stevens, Bokeem Woodbine, Nona Parker Johnson, and Brian Cox.
