Fans who enjoyed Minerva – The School streaming on Netflix are likely wondering about the fate of the TV series: will there be a second season? This is one of the most talked-about questions among fans, considering that since its debut the teen drama has already achieved strong results on the platform, quickly placing itself in the Top 10 of the most watched series in Italy. What Minerva – The School is about: the plot of the first season, who are the protagonists?
Introduced in preview at the Giffoni Film Festival 2026, Minerva – The School premiered on Netflix starting September 22, 2026, under the direction of Ivan Silvestrini (Mare Fuori). The story unfolds within the walls of an exclusive Neapolitan military academy, where students face a strict education, from lessons in military tactics and fencing to adherence to rules (which prohibit the use of mobile phones, civilian attire, and even romantic relationships between students).
As a teen drama, Minerva – The School introduces several parallel storylines featuring very young characters navigating a very complex reality. Salvo, played by Ciro Minopoli, has a clear objective for the first season: he decided to attend that school to uncover the truth about what happened to his best friend Francesco, who, like him, grew up in a foster home and disappeared mysteriously a year earlier inside the school. Vincenzo, played by Biagio Venditti, aims to follow his father’s example and become a soldier himself, driven by a precise personal goal. And then there’s Camilla, portrayed by Margherita Buoncristiani, seemingly an outlier, a Milanese girl sent by her father to the military academy to teach her the value of discipline. In the circle of students we also find Paola and Adele, as well as older students like Diego, Rachele and Max who have already learned their place.
Will Minerva – The School 2 happen? The cast hints at possible storylines to explore after that finale
The first season comprises eight episodes set strictly inside the military high school, but will there be a second season? At the moment the streaming giant has not confirmed the fate of Minerva – The School. Interviewed by Next Gen Magazine, the three young lead stars Ciro Minopoli, Biagio Venditti and Margherita Buoncristiani considered the possibility of returning for a second run of episodes. All three hope it will happen and, specifically, Ciro Minopoli even previewed what he would like to see: “I hope at least a moment in the second season (for Salvo and Camilla). In this first season Salvo was a bit tangled and couldn’t give too much of himself, but in my view he deserves it.”
Regarding the love triangle involving Camilla, Diego and Salvo, Margherita Buoncristiani told Cosmopolitan: “They are two completely opposite worlds, but I find the mix between Camilla and Salvo very intriguing. I think most of the audience will root for them. Also because Diego is already involved in a relationship and this makes everything even more complicated.”
The first season ends with an open finale and the actress told Cosmopolitan what she would want for Camilla should Netflix greenlight a second season: “I hope Camilla continues to stay at the school. There’s a possibility of going abroad, to London, and obviously I can’t say anything, but I think she has realized that, in reality, Minerva isn’t that bad. She has found love, she has found friendships and I think she has found a part of herself she didn’t know. So I hope she continues her journey within Minerva and can grow even more than she did in the first season. I especially hope she can further consolidate the relationship with Rachele. And perhaps the love story with Salvo can continue to progress.”
