All’s well that ends well. After months of doubts about the fate of MobLand and, in particular, about the involvement of its lead, Tom Hardy, the confirmation has just come through that the crime drama has officially been renewed for a third season, with the actor portraying the schemer Harry Da Souza still at the center of the action. The news arrives two weeks before the premiere of the second batch of episodes, slated to drop on Paramount+ on September 18.
MobLand, the fans’ sigh of relief: Season 3 is going ahead
In May, rumors emerged that Hardy would depart MobLand after the second season, following backstage tensions and creative differences with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser. Among the issues cited was the sense that the series was giving increasing prominence to other characters, diminishing Hardy’s role. However, the situation changed at the end of June: the actor reportedly met with Butterworth and Glasser in London to attempt to resolve the clashes, with producer-director Guy Ritchie involved to help facilitate a solution.
The second season, streaming on Paramount+ every Friday with a new episode, follows the Harrigans as they strive to keep a united front, while new rivals threaten their ever more fractured criminal empire. Harry Da Souza, their shrewd and formidable fixer, must navigate a dangerous balancing act as internal tensions within the family rise. With violence seeping into every facet of their lives, alliances fracture, security proves precarious, and the struggle for power leaves little room for mercy.
Beside Hardy we find Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren in the roles of the patriarch and matriarch of the Harrigan family, Conrad and Maeve, as well as Paddy Considine (Kevin Harrigan), Joanne Froggatt (Jan Da Souza), Lara Pulver (Isabella ‘Bella’ Harrigan), Anson Boon (Eddie Harrigan), Mandeep Dhillon (Seraphina Harrigan), Jasmine Jobson (Zosia), Teddie Allen (Gina Da Souza), Emmett J. Scanlan (Paul O’Donnell), Janet McTeer (Kat McAllister) and Toby Jones (Colin Tattersall). Joining them are the newcomers Johnny Flynn and Ophelia Lovibond.
