The Valley of Eden, a fresh adaptation of the eponymous American literary classic by Nobel laureate John Steinbeck, has been the most-watched series on Netflix in streaming over the past week, from September 28 to October 4, 2026. In its first four days of availability, the Zoe Kazan drama starring Florence Pugh generated 6.5 million views, a figure that, while it allowed it to dethrone Monster: The Story of Lizzie Borden, which had topped Netflix’s most-viewed series for two weeks, appears somewhat modest. It is indeed the lowest figure achieved by a number-one show since late March, when the second season of One Piece accumulated 5.9 million views in its third week. Netflix emphasizes that The Valley of Eden entered the Top 10 in 80 countries and reached the top position in 22 of them, adding that, since its announcement, the adaptation has contributed to a 200% rise in Penguin Classics book sales.
While the fourth season of Monster adds another 5.7 million views, 60% down in its third week, attention grows for Everybody at College, the revival of the cult sitcom from the 1980s and 1990s: 5.1 million, up 21%. These figures should have influenced Netflix’s recent decision to renew the series for a second season. Regarding titles in foreign languages, the expected growth of Minerva – The School did occur, hovering around 12%. The new Italian series amassed 2.7 million views in its second week of availability, rising from eighth to fourth in its own Top 10. The first place in this chart is once again held by the Turkish drama Who Are You, with 5.1 million views, followed by the Indian mystery drama Shaque: Trust No One (4.2 million) and the Spanish drama The Final Problem (3.2 million).
