Murder on Lake Garda: the plot and the characters of the TV series
Created by Alessandro Fabbri, who previously conceived Citadel: Diana and 1992, and directed by Laura Bispuri (My Brilliant Friend), Murder on Lake Garda (working title) is set on a private island that, in the quiet of Italy’s largest lake, hosts the year’s most exclusive wedding, that between Leopoldo Vigevani (Nanni), heir to one of the country’s wealthiest and most powerful families, and influencer Eva Bianchi (Buoncristiani). Lara (Antonelli), fiancée of the groom’s brother and an aspiring journalist, is an outsider in this world of privilege and appearances. But when a lifeless body is found on the beach, the island becomes a trap from which no one can escape and everyone becomes a potential suspect. As the police are slow to arrive, Lara digs into the cracks of the Vigevani clan and discovers that everyone hides a motive to kill.
The six-episode writing team includes Ilaria Macchia, Gianluca Bernardini and Laura Colella. Hindle’s acclaimed novel was published in Italy last June by Bompiani. The adaptation will join Disney+’s other Italian original productions The Lions of Sicily, The Good Mothers, The Ignorant Fairies, Boris and Uonderbois: The Secret Treasure of Naples.
