Netflix Announces The Label, New Italian Series Starring Christian De Sica and Claudio Santamaria

For his next television venture, Christian De Sica is switching both his co-star and the streaming platform. After two seasons alongside Pietro Sermonti in the Prime Video comedy Gigolò per caso, the seventy-five-year-old actor, one of the most famous and admired figures in Italian show business, will star in The Label – Family Arrangements on Netflix, this time with Claudio Santamaria at his side. The six-episode workplace series will be available soon.

The Label: plot and cast of Netflix’s new Italian series

Created by Giacomo Bendotti (Chiamami ancora amore), Stefano Bises (M – Il figlio del secolo) and Davide Serino (The Bad Guy), The Label – Family Arrangements explores the world of the Italian music industry from the perspective of the family that runs its last great independent label. The most turbulent year for the Label sweeps through three generations of the same family: Ade (De Sica), the brilliant yet despotic patriarch unwilling to relinquish control; Carlo (Santamaria), the son squeezed between banks and the weight of the inheritance; and Celeste (Sofia Conti, Cinque secondi), the granddaughter who brings the new musical scene into the Label.

As the label teeters on bankruptcy and becomes a battleground between old and new, a race unfolds to discover the song, or the artist, capable of saving it. Meanwhile, the everyday life of running a record company blends with romantic and artistic relationships that entwine and break apart.

The queen of The Label is entrusted to Luca Miniero, with whom De Sica had already collaborated on the 2014 film La scuola più bella del mondo. The series’ cast also includes Cristiana Capotondi (Minerva – La scuola), Ornella Muti (Sirene), Madior Giorgio Fall and Martina Gatti (Un’estate fa).
