Following Godless in 2017, a performance that earned him an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries, and after A Real Man in 2024, Jeff Daniels returns once again to Netflix to star in another drama series. The 71-year-old actor will be one of the leads in Bannerman, a dramatic series based on the novels of John R. Maxim centered on the character Raymond Lesko, a former detective with the New York Police Department.
The Plot of Bannerman and Jeff Daniels’ Role
Bannerman centers on the eponymous figure, Paul Bannerman, a lethal covert operative who convinces some of the world’s most dangerous hit men to quit espionage so they can try to lead a normal life in the suburbs of Connecticut. Old foes, bad habits, a paranoid government and an uncompromising ex-cop will make retirement their most challenging mission yet.
Daniels will portray Raymond Lesko, a notorious New York detective who, after being pushed out of the police force for seeking vengeance following the murder of his former partner—an event that still haunts him—has ended up working in hotel security. Lesko is pulled back into action when he discovers that his daughter, the only person in the world he truly cares for, is dating a man who could prove to be even more dangerous than he is.
A co-production between AMC Studios and Netflix, Bannerman bears the signature of Craig Silverstein, known for his work on numerous successful series, including Nikita and The Old Man. Shane Black contributed to the screenplay and will also direct it. Both will also be part of the production team alongside The Walking Dead veteran Greg Nicotero and Brian Witten.
