I don’t know what you think, but if someone tells me that the premise of a film is a diver being swallowed, literally, by a whale, well: they’ve already won me over. That’s why I’ll spend the coming months eagerly awaiting October 15, when Whalefall: Inside the Whale makes its debut in Italian cinemas. The film, produced by 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment, is indeed based on this premise (where the whale in question, to avoid any confusion, is a giant sperm whale). The movie, directed by Brian Duffield with a screenplay by Brian Duffield and Daniel Kraus, based on Kraus’s novel of the same name, stars Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd.

After the death of his father (Josh Brolin), Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams) dives off the central California coast in search of his remains, but is swallowed by an enormous whale. While trapped in its belly with only an hour of oxygen left, Jay realizes that the hard-earned lessons from his father might be the key to his escape.
