In Italy we came to know him chiefly through the American football video game series that bears his name, Madden NFL. But if the name of John Madden appeared on those games, it is because in the United States he was a legendary coach, boasting one of the highest success rates of all time, and after his retirement he became the principal commentator of professional league games for all the major U.S. networks.
To this true American icon (who died on December 28, 2021, at the age of 85), a film has now been dedicated that pays homage to this extraordinary figure: it is titled Madden, directed by David O. Russell, and in the lead role is our beloved Nicolas Cage. Alongside Cage, another great actor in the cast is Christian Bale, who plays Al Davis, owner of the Oakland Raiders, Madden’s best friend, mentor and close collaborator. Completing the cast are Kathryn Hahn, Sienna Miller, John Mulaney and Shane Gillis.
Madden will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting November 18, and this is its official Italian trailer.
