Nicolas Winding Refn Returns to the Big Screen with New Film Her Private Hell – Clip

His previous film, The Neon Demon, dates back ten years. In the meantime Nicolas Winding Refn has created two television series (Too Old to Die Young, Copenhagen Cowboy), has nearly died, and presented at Venice the restoration of the dazzling debut Pusher. Most of all, he has remained in the hearts and minds of countless cinephiles, he who among contemporary directors has managed to build around himself and his work something of a cult.
Now NWR, as he likes to sign himself, has returned to making films, and thanks to MUBI he is back in Italian cinemas from today with his new Her Private Hell, world-premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, a hypnotic and ethereal thriller set in a futuristic and dreamlike world that only the mind of Refn could conjure, a world where cyberpunk sensibilities, nods to Italian Giallo, references to Barbarella and to yakuza cinema, family melodrama and fetishistic erotism blend seamlessly.
Below you can watch an official clip from the film.

Her Private Hell, a kind of new beginning in the career of its author, is starring Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton, Kristine Froseth, Havana Rose Liu, Diego Calva, and Dougray Scott.
Below is the plot and the official trailer.

When a mysterious fog unleashes an elusive darkness, a young actress (Sophie Thatcher) and an American soldier (Charles Melton) see their destinies intertwined in a hypnotic universe, bathed in neon lights, where memory, reality and survival clash.
