North South East West: The Legendary Story of 883 – Back to the 90s on Sky and NOW

On October 9, exclusively on Sky and streaming only on NOW, the story of one of the most recognizable chapters of Italian pop music from the 1990s returns: the tale of the band 883. Following the success of the first season, Nord South West East – The Legendary Story of 883 resumes the journey of Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto, bringing to the screen a new phase of their artistic and personal adventure. The narrative preserves the light and ironic tone that has characterized the project from the start, but broadens its gaze to a period of profound change, when the duo’s rise becomes increasingly hard to manage and the balance between friendship, ambitions, and private life starts to shift. At the center remains Pavia, the hometown and anchor of the 883’s imagination, alongside that Italian province made up of friendships, parties, scooters, complicated loves, and seemingly unattainable dreams. The series uses these elements to reconstruct an era and, at the same time, to tell the birth of a musical language capable of speaking to an entire generation.

Cosa aspettarsi da Nord South West East – The Legendary Story of 883

The title recalls one of the 883’s most celebrated albums, Nord South West East, and introduces a new and decisive chapter in their story. Music naturally continues to occupy a central role, not only as a soundtrack but as a tool through which to track the protagonists’ evolution. The 883 songs thus become an integral part of the narrative and help convey the cultural climate of the 1990s, amid television, radio, clubs, fashions, and transformations of everyday life. At the same time, the series maintains a more intimate dimension, focusing on the relationships between the characters and on the consequences that fame brings with it. Max and Mauro (portrayed by Elia Nuzzolo and Matteo Oscar Giuggioli) find themselves faced with increasingly important choices, while their musical experience leads them away from the provincial world where it all began. The tension between the desire to stay true to themselves and the new responsibilities tied to notoriety is one of the narrative elements through which the series develops its story. What emerges is a portrait that alternates between comedy, nostalgia, and more personal moments, without surrendering the musical component that constitutes the project’s identity.

Enter NOW

With Nord South West East – The Legendary Story of 883, the creator and director Sydney Sibilia continues a television saga built around one of the most important formations in recent Italian pop culture. The new series can be read both as a continuation of the Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto story that began in Have They Killed the Spider-Man? – The Legendary Story of 883, already available on Sky and streaming on NOW, and as a journey into the collective memory of those who lived the 1990s through the songs, images, and symbols of that period. It indeed maintains a balance between biographical reconstruction and entertainment, using characters and situations tied to the 883 affair to tell also a piece of Italy from those years. Among musical successes (not only of the 883!), friendships, aspirations, and personal changes, the new chapter accompanies the protagonists in a decisive phase of their story. The grand adventure they are living will take Max and Mauro to the sparkling Milan of fashion, and to the America they dreamed of as youngsters. But once they arrive there, will they truly find themselves? And will they manage to stay friends as they were when they started?

Arriva Nord South West East: gli eventi dal vivo

In anticipation of October 9, the excitement for the arrival on screen of Nord South West East – The Legendary Story of 883 heats up with a series of free-entry events planned in Milan over the weekend. On Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, from 11:00 to 19:00, Pelota in Milan, at 10 Via Palermo, will transform into a direct doorway to the 1990s, into the world of Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto. The public will be able to walk through it and find themselves between Los Angeles and Pavia, inside the places, the music, and the imagery that have accompanied more than one generation. The itinerary has been designed to involve fans and the curious through interactive installations, sets inspired by the series, and the music video of Nord South West East, but also live music from some of the most famous 883 tribute bands, games, and photo opportunities.

The “journey” organized by Sky and NOW will begin at check-in, where each visitor will be invited to take their own “883 flight” with a destination to Los Angeles, the city where Max and Mauro shot the Nord South West East video in 1993. Once in Los Angeles, it will be possible to take a photo beside the famous red Cadillac from the video, while in the Desert Area the Dance Cabin will allow recording mini-videos inspired by Mauro Repetto’s iconic dance moves, to be shared directly on social media. The heart of the American experience will be Plaza Messicana, also inspired by the video: a large space with a stage and continuous entertainment. From America, the journey will return to Italy, to Pavia, the city where the 883 story began. Here two of the series’ most iconic settings will be recreated: the small tavern room used by Max and Mauro as a recording studio, where you can record your own lip-sync performances to 883 songs, and Max’s bedroom, which will host a gaming experience inspired by the ‘90s. There will also be the opportunity to take a photo “inside” the iconic cover of the Nord South West East album.

Not everything ends there. On Saturday at around 12:30, the experience will be enhanced by a special appearance with the stars Elia Nuzzolo and Matteo Oscar Giuggioli. The two actors will participate in a fan meeting during which the audience can hear curiosities and behind-the-scenes details of the production and immerse themselves even more in the series’ narrative universe, retracing the story of a friendship, dreams, and the successes that accompanied the rise of Max and Mauro. This gathering will be preceded at 11:00 by another meet & greet, also with Nuzzolo and Giuggioli, at the Sky Milano Store on Via Torino 66/68.
