North, South, West, East: Video Interview with Elia Nuzzolo, Matteo Giuggioli, Davide Calgaro and Edoardo Ferrario

North South East West – The Legendary Story of 883 is not only recounting the events that led to the duo from Pavia’s second and final album, which reached the peak of an overwhelming success, but also the friendship between Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto, as well as the bond among the two boys and their lifelong friends Cisco and Nemorino. In this sense, the third episode, available exclusively on Sky and streaming only on NOW for the past few hours, has told us a great deal about how fundamental this relationship was to their growth and to the conception of some of the unforgettable songs that 883 gifted to a generation — theirs and the country as a whole.

On the occasion of the arrival of the new season, we met the young stars Elia Nuzzolo, Matteo Oscar Giuggioli and Davide Calgaro (playing Max, Mauro and Cisco respectively) together with Edoardo Ferrario, who portrays the manager/guardian of 883, Pierpaolo Peroni, on a set recreating the iconic Pezzali family tavern. In a quick video interview, we had the chance to ask them how it felt to return to the series’ set, how their approach to their characters has changed since the first season and the reception, and what from the Nord South East West experience they will carry in their personal baggage.

North South East West: the Theme of Friendship

These are themes that also emerged strongly during the press presentation of North South East West – The Legendary Story of 883 to the press. Speaking about Cisco, Calgaro said that “his role is to remind Max of his origins, to bring him back to his Pavese roots, and, particularly in the second season, to remind him that dreams don’t always come true as one expects. He’s that best friend who’s always there to remind you — preferably over a dark beer — that, ‘don’t worry, we’re here’.” Cisco is a character to which Giuggioli has said he is very fond, even though it’s not his: “It’s friendship above all, selfless. He’s the friend who holds your hand and is happy just to hold it. This is the greatest form of love there is.”
