Before the hockey mask became legendary, there were simply a hyper-protective mother, Pamela Voorhees, and her young son, Jason: this is the story of a woman driven by a strong urge to keep her child safe, relentlessly teased by peers for his deformity. Pamela and Jason are the central figures of Crystal Lake, the horror TV series produced by A24 and distributed on Sky Atlantic and Now — a prequel to the famous Friday the 13th film saga. It concentrates on the origins of the tragedy at Camp Crystal Lake, and even more on the controversial figure of the mother of the future serial killer, characterized by an evident psychological fragility that, without a doubt, has weighed on Jason’s difficult path of growing up. If Crystal Lake has captivated you, then you should cast your gaze on the short list below, where you’ll find titles that fit your taste.
