So far Silo has drawn its strength from the literary trilogy by Hugh Howey, though it diverges in part from some details of the original material, making changes deemed necessary for the TV series. As the fourth and final season approaches, which has already set a release date for summer 2027, fans hope that Silo will adapt one of the most anticipated love stories. But which one is it? Attention: below we will refer to what has happened so far in Silo and provide spoilers from the novel about the last chapter.
Silo 4 could finally introduce a much-anticipated love story for fans
Several changes were introduced during the third season of Silo compared to Howey’s novels: for example, that Bernard has survived for a long time in order to redeem himself, or that Juliette has lost her memory. Another significant alteration concerns Daniel, who in the novels is known as Donald and played a key role in the construction of the Silo, while in the TV series he seems to have been dragged into the plan by force, later becoming Troy.
Given the numerous changes between novels and the TV series, audiences fear that another aspect of the story might be sacrificed, but a conversation in the final episode of the third season suggests there may still be hope. The scene in question involves Juliette and Lukas Kyle. Kyle has been sent to Silo 17 and has survived a shootout, events that do not occur in the novel, but in the last episode he speaks to Juliette via radio and confesses that he misses her and cannot wait to tell her more about what he has discovered about the universe. At that point Juliette, though embarrassed, replied that she can’t wait.
This interaction lays the groundwork for a love story that is actually very much alive in the Silo novels. On paper, the two meet when Juliette is sheriff, but their connection blossoms precisely via radio, conversations that actually occur when Juliette ends up in Silo 17 while Lukas is in Silo 18 and is Bernard’s shadow. In the second season, when Juliette is in Silo 17, this part of the story was completely dropped, but the finale of the third season rekindled fans’ hope, albeit reversing the characters’ positions (Lukas is in 17 and Juliette in 18). It is also true that the fourth season will have a lot to manage, being the last. Will there be room for Lukas and Juliette?
