It will be Pamela Anderson who receives this year’s amfAR’s Award of Courage during the amfAR Gala Venezia 2026, an event that will take place during the 83rd Venice Film Festival and will, as always, host a fundraiser for biomedical research against HIV and the fight against AIDS organized by the nonprofit association founded in 1985 by Elizabeth Taylor and Mathilde Krim. The Gala will be held on September 6 at the luxury Hilton Molino Stucky hotel in Venice, located on the Island of Giudecca. The actress will be at the Festival to present out of competition Place to Be, the film by Kornél Mundruczó in which she stars alongside Taika Waititi and Ellen Burstyn, who this very year will be awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. Regarding the recognition of the former Baywatch star, the amfAR’s CEO Kyle Clifford stated:
Pamela Anderson is not only an exceptional and iconic actress but she has also committed herself to raising public awareness for a range of causes of great importance. She tirelessly fights for what she believes in, and her courage is an inspiration to all of us. We couldn’t be more excited to be able to recognize her contribution at our event this year.
As already announced, during the Gala the artist and performer Marina Abramović will receive amfAR’s Award of Inspiration. The evening will open with a special performance by pop star Mimi Webb. Hosting duties will be handled by Taika Waititi, the actor and director.
Over the years amfAR has honored illustrious figures such as Antonio Banderas, Richard Gere, Ava DuVernay, Ferzan Özpetek, Achille Boroli, Mohammed Al Turki and, more recently, Julian Schnabel.
Pamela Anderson has returned to make headlines thanks to her outstanding performance in The Last Showgirl by Gia Coppola and her role in The Naked Gun, a remake of the 1988 comedy of the same name. In the latter film the actress starred alongside Liam Neeson, with whom she had a brief romance.
