Prison Break Reboot Takes Shape With Announcement of a Solid Cast

The Prison Break phenomenon is set to surprise us again on our screens, and Hulu has a plan to make it happen. The network already announced months ago its reboot project to bring the series back, and did so with a lineup of notable lead actors, though none from the original series. Now the production company has released a new list of actors joining the cast, and beware, because some of them are heavyweight names.

The news comes with details about the roles of the new actors, which gives us an idea of their weight in the plot and what to expect both inside and outside of prison. Because with ‘Prison Break’ the plot won’t just unfold behind bars; there will be conspiracies against the protagonists that reach the highest echelons of American society.

The escapes from impossible prisons will be back on the agenda with the reboot of ‘Prison Break’ (Fox)

Ready to Escape

Among the six new actors added to the ‘Prison Break’ cast, the most notable is Sam Trammell, star of ‘True Blood’. His role in the series will be Jarrod Boggs, a figure of great influence in the western Virginia region with unknown intentions. He will be joined outside of prison by Sean Bridgers as Hollis, a family man who is looking to rebuild his life; and Jean Louisa Kelly as Margaret, the matriarch of a family with branches spread through politics.

The other half of the announced actors will be part of the plot inside the main prison. Chris Coy and Kerry Bishé will portray Mule and Mary Smith, two inmates who look dangerous with whom the protagonists will have to watch their step. Robin Weigert, on the other hand, will serve as emotional support as the prison chaplain, who appears to act as a figure in favor of the prisoners’ welfare.

Complete Cast

The list of the six new actors is added to the eight that Hulu had already announced at the time, creating thus a solid number of actors to shape the first season of the reboot. They had previously announced Emily Browning, Drake Rodger, Lukas Gage, Clayton Cardenas, J.R. Bourne, Georgie Flores, Kelli Berglund and Myles Bullock. They are perhaps somewhat less well-known than the newly announced ones, but with the support of such a cast they will have the opportunity to once again highlight the glory of ‘Prison Break’.
