Quasi Vera, Frank Matano & Taylor Mega: Using AI-Generated Avatars? Not a Bad Idea — Our Interview

Vera is the sexy avatar, created through Artificial Intelligence, for an actor whose career has fallen on hard times, allowing him to earn a sizeable fortune: this happens in the comedy Quasi Vera by Fausto Brizzi, already in theaters, where the actor in question is played by Frank Matano, while his virtual creation is Taylor Mega. We present this video interview with Frank and Taylor, where we asked the latter how she effectively ended up making her debut as an actress without interacting with the rest of the cast… and having to summarize, on top of that, historic soccer matches, in order to better captivate a male audience! And how did the idea of a Matano who acts between the lines come about? Would they accept the idea of using a virtual avatar, as happens in the film?

Quasi Vera, the film’s plot with Frank Matano, Taylor Mega, Rocío Muñoz Morales, and Andrea Perroni

In Quasi Vera, the poor Diego (Frank Matano) struggles to find his own footing: his acting career is at a financial dead end, and he is about to be left by his wife (Rocío Muñoz Morales), with all the consequences this could have on his still-young son. A glimmer of hope opens up when, after meeting an expert influencer (Laura Chiatti), he decides to create via Artificial Intelligence a very provocative virtual woman, Vera (Taylor Mega), to serve a crowd of paying and ecstatic fans. He plays her himself, but soon the situation spirals out of control, because the desire to win back his wife, who works in marketing, will push him to promote Vera as the campaign’s spokesperson. But that woman doesn’t exist in real life… or perhaps it isn’t so important?
Quasi Vera was written by its director Fausto Brizzi together with Gianluca Berardi, Herbert Simone Paragnani, Roberto Lipari and , based on an original concept by Beatrice Campagna, Marcello Iappelli and Fabio Guaglione. The cast also includes Andrea Perroni in the role of a close friend of Diego, as well as Sergio Friscia and Federica Cifola as ridiculous owners of a seaside resort.
