Ray Gunn: Watch the Trailer for Brad Bird’s New Animated Film

Sure, he has also directed two live-action films, which were Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011 and Tomorrowland in 2015, but for everyone Brad Bird is the director of animated films that have shaped the history of contemporary animation cinema, such as The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille.
Now Brad Bird is about to return with a new film that promises to be just as revolutionary, and which we will see in select theaters from December 2 and on Netflix from the 18th of the same month: it is titled Ray Gunn, set in a metropolis reminiscent of Fritz Lang and Francis Ford Coppola (the city is named Metropia) and tells of an alternative, retro-futuristic 1939 in which a hard-boiled private detective from the noir world, Raymond Gunn (voiced by Sam Rockwell in the original version) is drawn into a case involving aliens, a murder and a multimedia star named Venus Nova (voiced by Scarlett Johansson, also in the original version).
To direct Ray Gunn, for which he wrote the story, and co-wrote the screenplay with Matthew Robbins, Bird gave up directing the third film in the series of The Incredibles, and drew heavily on his noir passion, citing titles such as The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep and Chinatown as sources of inspiration.
