The exclusive piece was given to The Hollywood Reporter, where she opened up about the difficult days her family and Mitte’s fiancée are going through. After all, it’s not just about losing a child, but about being the public face of a famous actor right after a celebration of RJ’s career and achievements, an event that occurred just a few hours before the interview.
Suicide Caution
The reason for the interview with Dyna Mitte is clear and stated from the very start: she is seeking a way to help other potential suicide victims within a family. “If you notice (even in a conversation) that there are difficulties or doubts, pay close attention to your children and do everything you can to help them.” She makes a plea to not overlook the small details, no matter how insignificant they may seem.
“Parents should listen to their children and be alert to the signs“, says Dyna in the interview. “I thought RJ had overcome the worst and that he was okay. It wasn’t until he stopped answering the phone that I realized it was a warning sign, because we used to talk frequently […] A mother should never have to find her child like that. It is something very hard to accept”.
Clarifying Misunderstandings
The interview has also touched on Mitte’s relationship with his fiancée, with whom there seemed to be issues and has sparked a lot of speculation on social media. “I can say there were difficulties“, but those conversations are private between RJ, me, and his friends. She moved in December, and since then they had only met three or four times”.
Dyna also asserts that she has not spoken with her about preventing her from attending the funeral, something some outlets had suggested.
