Zelda Williams, daughter of the unforgettable Robin (Williams), is urging fans of the late actor to stop creating and sharing videos about him that are generated by artificial intelligence. She communicates this appeal via her social channels, hoping her plea will be heard. On Monday, the Lisa Frankenstein director took to X to share her thoughts, explaining that a video circulating as “private” and featuring Robin Williams had clearly been created with AI—and, she noted, the AI used was not very convincing. She added: “Anyone who claims to be a fan (of my father) and believed that video did, in fact, watch his films without sound, because the voice in the video is evidently robotic and awful. That said, it was a human being who enabled a robot to produce it, and so I want to tell you: keep it out of your delusional nonsense and let him rest in peace. If you can’t leave a mark without the help of a man who is dead, tell me: who is really manipulating people through the media?” Zelda closes the message with these poignant words: “Just because he’s dead doesn’t mean he’s now a puppet in your hands. Shame on you.”
It isn’t the first time such a disrespectful desecration has occurred, because digital facsimiles of Robin Williams have for some time circulated on the internet. In fact, back in October 2025 the filmmaker wrote on Instagram: “Please stop sending me videos of my father created by AI. Stop believing that I want to see them or that I can understand them, because that isn’t the case. If you’re simply trying to offend me, know that I’ve seen worse. I will enforce my boundaries and move on. But please, if you still have even a shred of decency, stop doing this to him, to me and to everyone. Point. It’s stupid, it’s a waste of time and energy, and, believe me, it’s not what he would have wanted.”
We should also recall that in mid-August, Zelda Williams and her brothers and Cody reactivated Robin Williams’ official Instagram page in order to safeguard the actor’s image, voice, and memory from distorted or unauthorized use by AI. Evidently, the effort did not achieve the hoped-for protection.
