Romeo Beckham Makes His Film Debut in a Tennis-Themed Heated Rivalry

Romeo Beckham, the second son of former footballer David Beckham and Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, is about to make his film debut as an actor. And, at 24, Romeo has chosen a bold first role to launch his acting career. The young man will be one of the two leads of ‘Forty Love’, a gay love story set in the world of tennis that inevitably recalls ‘More Than Rivals’.

The project had already been announced in June, but it was the release of its first trailer just a few hours ago that has made the news tangible. Two ambitious athletes, a competition that shifts from the court, and an attraction difficult to manage. The combination also calls to mind Luca Guadagnino’s cinema and his film ‘Rivals’.

Trailer ‘Forty Love’ (2026)

The story follows Sacha Gallo, a 21-year-old tennis player portrayed by Paul Kircher, whose life has always revolved around the same goal: to win. Trained from a young age by his father, he prepares to claim his first major title in Paris. Everything seems on track until a new adversary appears, played by Beckham, capable of unsettling his certainties and forcing him to confront feelings for which his athletic preparation offers few answers.

The official synopsis presents love as Sacha’s next great challenge. A threat especially uncomfortable for someone accustomed to measuring progress in results, training, and victories. On paper, the film finds there its main conflict: how to stay focused on defeating a person when it becomes almost impossible to stop thinking about them. Winning the match may be far less complicated than understanding what is happening between them.

How High Will the Temperature Rise?

The trailer makes clear that this relationship will have little of a calm nature. Between provocations and clashes, the characters also share a kiss and appear together in bed. However, we will have to wait to see the final result to gauge how far the scenes go, and whether they are as explicit as those in ‘More Than Rivals’.

‘Forty Love’ is also the feature debut of the renowned fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti. Precisely in fashion is where Romeo Beckham had built his résumé to date, and he becomes the first Beckham to seriously debut in acting. We do not know whether he has prepared by studying the cult film starring his mother nearly three decades ago: the unforgettable ‘Spiceworld: The Movie’.

As for ‘Forty Love’, produced and distributed by Studiocanal, it opens in French cinemas on the 25th of November, with no international release date confirmed yet. It also features the collaboration of Catherine Deneuve, a major lure for cinephiles.
