Enzo d’Alò is one of the most active figures in our animation scene (and not only, having recently signed a book with Giacomo Scarpelli): he will be the focal point of several talks as part of the 37th edition of the cross-media event Romics at the Rome Fair, scheduled from October 1 to 4. The director of The Little Seagull and the Cat, to name just his most famous work, will share his experience from a precise point of view. Enzo d’Alò and animation directing, a chat at Romics 37 at the Rome Fair
His feature directorial debut came with The Blue Arrow by Gianni Rodari, in 1996, featuring Lella Costa in the role of the Befana and Dario Fo as the sinister villain Scarafoni. However, his actual debut dates back to 1993, with the TV special Kamillo Kromo by Altan, for which Enzo d’Alò has plenty to tell, not least because he touches on the subject The Little Seagull and the Cat (1998), one of the milestones of our cartooning tradition. In the event “Directing for Animation: a Fantastic Adventure“, scheduled Friday, October 2 from 10:30 to 11 at Pavilion 8 – Large Events and Screenings Hall, moderated by Max Giovagnoli, Enzo will discuss his approach to this specialization of directing, from story development to the relationship between music and images, including the element of character design. In his career, D’Alò has received two nominations for the European Film Awards, a UNICEF Mention in 2009, the Franco Bianchi Award at the Venice Film Festival in 2013, and the Best Animated Film award at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival in 2023. Note that some illustrations created for his Pinocchio have become part of the exhibition “T’immagini Pinocchio“, open every day of the Fair right in Pavilion 8. Saturday, October 3 at the Movie Village stage (Hall 5) at 3:00 PM, Enzo together with Giacomo Scarpelli will also present the novel “Oceani di carta”, written in duo and dedicated to the man Emilio Salgari and to his vast imagination.
