Romics 37: The Oliver Onions in Concert with Their Iconic Film and TV Theme Songs

It’s almost impossible that you don’t know at least one song by the Oliver Onions, which would mean you never listened to “Dune Buggy” from Watch Out, We’re Mad! with Bud Spencer & Terence Hill: the steadfast Guido and Maurizio De Angelis will be on stage today at the 37th edition of Romics, which concludes at the Rome Fair. There is no better way to celebrate Romics’ 25 years of cross-media presence than with a small musical event that will trace their career, through songs and theme tunes. To discover more sessions and information, we invite you to visit the official Romics website.

Romics 37, the Oliver Onions celebrate their musical history, with the collaboration of Animeniacs

The gathering for dancing and singing is today Sunday, October 4 at 3:15 PM, at Hall 8 of the Rome Fair, where the 37th edition of Romics is drawing to a close, celebrating its first 25 years this time around. Guido and Maurizio De Angelis, known professionally as the Oliver Onions with a career spanning more than six decades, will take the stage for the concert “Oliver Onions & Animeniacs: the Theme Songs and Soundtracks That Made History“. The Animeniacs who will accompany them are a vocal ensemble that has long paid homage to television animation from the Eighties to today, always in the name of pop culture at events and concerts.
As for Guido and Maurizio, we think some pieces are unforgettable beyond the legendary “Dune Buggy” we mentioned: they wrote the theme songs for Space: 1999, Sandokan (the one from ’76!), Orzowei, Galaxy Express 999, but also “Flying Through the Air” (for Più Forte Ragazzi), “Angels and Beans” (from Anche gli angeli mangiano fagioli), “Sheriff” (from Uno sceriffo extraterrestre), “Brotherly Love” (from Pari e dispari) and “Banana Joe“, which continues to echo in the minds of more than one generation, sung by the same Bud Spencer / Carlo Pedersoli. All this is not to mention the “firefighters’ choir“, also from Watch Out, We’re Mad, immortal just like many of their other compositions.
