The past returns to knock on the door of Charlotte and Samantha Quinn in the official trailer for The Good Daughter, a new Peacock thriller miniseries adapted from Karin Slaughter’s bestseller, known in Italy as La figlia modello. The leads are Meghann Fahy and Rose Byrne, tackling a fresh criminal case that threatens to dredge up memories and secrets they believed they had left behind. The Good Daughter will debut in the United States on November 12, 2026 on Peacock, while Italy has not yet announced an official release date. In the meantime, watch the official trailer below.
The Plot of The Good Daughter
The story begins with a traumatic event that occurred 28 years earlier. Charlotte and Samantha spent much of their lives trying to rebuild after that terrible night, when masked and armed men intruded upon their lives and their home was set ablaze. The trailer offers a glimpse into the backstory and the mystery that will weave through the six episodes of the series. We see Charlotte and Samantha Quinn as they attempt to move forward after that night of violence that forever upended their family. The two sisters have built separate lives and, for a long time, have tried to live with the consequences of that trauma, but a new crime in the small town of Pikeville forces them to confront the past once again.
Charlotte, portrayed by Meghann Fahy, has now become a lawyer, following in the footsteps of her father Rusty, played by Brendan Gleeson. When a fresh assault shakes the community, she is the first witness on the scene. What initially appears to be a case of homicide soon takes a more personal turn. During the investigations, Charlotte and Samantha begin to piece together a story in which nothing seems exactly as it appears. The two sisters must collaborate to reach the truth, while old memories resurface and the Quinn family’s secrets become ever harder to conceal.
The trailer hints at a story of secrets, trauma, and hidden truths
“When you keep a secret, it can transform you into a person you don’t want to be,” says Charlotte. And Rusty’s presence in the discourse seems to imply there is more behind the events than the protagonists have revealed: “There’s much more to the story than what you’re hearing.” The new case thus serves as an opportunity to dig into the sisters’ past and their relationship, testing the bond that has held them together despite everything that has happened.
The Cast of The Good Daughter
Apart from Rose Byrne in the role of Samantha Quinn and Meghann Fahy as Charlotte Quinn, and with Brendan Gleeson portraying the girls’ father, the cast also includes Rusty Quinn and Olivia Williams in the role of mother Harriet “Gamma” Quinn. Also featured in the series are Michael Dorman, Harper Steele, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Drew Cheek. Marshall and Cheek portray the younger versions of Samantha and Charlotte. Notably, Karin Slaughter’s involvement is particularly significant, as the author of the novel on which the series is based. Slaughter has written all six episodes of The Good Daughter and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Steph Green directs the series, having helmed all six episodes.
