Having received a heartfelt standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival from an adoring audience at the conclusion of his What Love Builds, the documentary presented out of competition that chronicles his passion for music by following his world tours and, in parallel, his life as an actor, Russell Crowe will soon be in Italian cinemas with a new film in which he stars prominently. It is Beast, a drama-action hybrid set in the world of mixed martial arts, which we will see in cinemas from October 1 distributed by Plaion Pictures.
In the film, directed by Tyler Atkins, Crowe plays Sammy, a gruff yet devoted coach who had transformed his pupil Pat into a legend, only to see everything he had dreamed for him and for them collapse because of Pat himself. Beast tells of their renewed encounter years after a painful separation, an meeting that could mean they reunite and start winning again; but it won’t be easy, since there are old wounds to be overcome and healed — as this clip we present to you in an exclusive preview reveals.
In the role of Pat, as we have just seen in the clip, we find Daniel MacPherson, and completing the cast are also Luke Hemsworth and Bren Foster. Beast is a project Crowe has held particularly dear, to the point that he also co-wrote the screenplay with David Frigerio, author of scripts for films such as The Signal and Land of Bad, in which Crowe himself starred.
