The case of the galaxy’s greatest conspiracy is reopening. He has been working for some time to turn it into reality, and it seems that Ryan Coogler is on the right path to resurrect ‘The X-Files’. In fact, it’s going better than fine: the director has achieved a major advance in the production of the series and has secured a series of important breakthroughs, among which stands out the announcement that the streaming platform Hulu has closed the deal to make it a reality and broadcast its first season.
With the first episodes secured for the near future, the production team is pulling out all the stops to make Coogler’s dream a reality as soon as possible. The focus of the story will shift from Fox and Dana to a couple of new investigators, played by Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel. Both will be FBI agents who have been assigned to a long-closed division of the organization, which seeks answers to the impossible and all kinds of paranormal phenomena: the Office of Secret Files.
Mysteries in the Environment
For months the name Deadwyler has been buzzing around, so confirming her role does not come as a surprise. She was already the favorite to star in the series, and her name had surfaced months ago, and Patel’s involvement came as a bit more of a surprise but his presence was announced months ago. The lingering question is whether we will see David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson return in their iconic original roles: so far, no one from the production has commented either in favor or against.
Although Coogler wrote and personally directed the pilot with which he presented the reboot project, his final role will be as executive producer of the series. The showrunner role will fall to Jennifer Yale, who previously worked on ‘See’ and ‘Hidden Vices’.
Personal Inspiration
Coogler has long been pursuing the resurrection project of ‘The X-Files,’ a series that has excited the director of ‘The Sinners’ since his youth. He has already offered a few interesting statements, with promises about its mysteries episode after episode and grand conspiracies behind the season as a whole. The original series spanned eleven seasons and two films, so there will be plenty of source material to draw from.
