Sarah Michelle Gellar Targeted by Ghostface Again in New Ad – Video

One of Wes Craven’s most brilliant ideas in the Scream saga was to cast a famous actress who would be killed off at the beginning of the film, a poetic counterpoint to the final girl. After Drew Barrymore, in 1997’s Scream 2 it was the Buffy heroine, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who opened the movie with a fatal encounter with Ghostface. Obviously, since then, the actress has not returned to the franchise, though her involvement has remained etched in fans’ memories. At least until today, when an American hard cider company, Angry Orchard, recalled that famous phone call to recreate that moment for a Halloween advertisement. You can watch it below.

Angry Orchard and Scream: American-Style Alcoholic Beverages

But what exactly is Sarah Michelle Gellar advertising? Let us tell you, because these products aren’t available in Italy. Angry Orchard (“angry orchard”) produces hard cider, a beverage derived from apples, and on this occasion it is launching for Halloween a “Thriller Pack” themed around Ghostface with multiple flavors, arranged in 12 cans offering four distinct tastes and names inspired by the holiday, namely “Caramel Apple Curse,” Headless Pumpkin, Blood Orange, and Mystery Caller. And it is precisely this last flavor that sparked the advertisement featuring the phone call in which Ghostface informs Sarah Michelle Gellar that he’s very thirsty: the can itself bears the killer’s mask.
