The already star-studded cast of Scapegoat welcomes yet another blazing cinema icon, not hailing from the United States or Australia as in the cases of Scarlett Johansson and Jacob Elordi, but from England. We’re talking about Jude Law, who has never had the pleasure of working with Ari Aster. The news broke just a few hours ago and it fills us with joy, since Jude is an actor of great versatility and credible in whatever genre he takes on. Of course, we don’t yet know what role the actor will play, as the film’s plot remains rather opaque. Yet there are whispers—and we’ve already noted them—that the story centers around a doctor who ends up operating on a person made famous by the web. Some say it’s a romance and science fiction film, others think it’s simply a drama in the classic sense. What we do know, however, is that, despite a busy schedule, Scarlett Johansson said yes to Aster as soon as she read the screenplay. Scapegoat follows not long after Eddington, which was presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and drew mixed reviews. The leads were Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix, with Phoenix having already been directed by the filmmaker in Beau Is Afraid. After his debut film Hereditary, Ari Aster captured global audiences with Midsommar: The Village of the Damned, a horror feature featuring the remarkable Florence Pugh.
Speaking of Jude Law, he too is keeping busy. Over the past year he has appeared in the series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, in the miniseries Black Rabbit, and in the film The Wizard of the Kremlin, where he portrayed Vladimir Putin. He is also gearing up for Sherlock Holmes 3.
