Love is the greatest mystery of all, and who better to solve one than a Holmes. The Roku Channel has given the green light to a new detective series with an unexpected twist: it isn’t about solving crimes, but cases of love. If you want to know whether your partner has cheated on you or who sent you that confession letter in high school twenty years ago, you’re in luck, because you can turn to the ultimate detective: her name, like the series, is Scarlett Holmes.
And who better to bring the character to life than a pro at romance fiction, Lucy Hale. The star of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ will hold the most important role in the limited series. She will also serve as executive producer for the production of her single-season run, with support from Sophie Tilson and Steve Jaggi. The script will be written by Paris Herbert-Taylor and Katie Wilbert, screenwriters already seasoned in the world of romantic comedies.
Unfathomable Love
The plot of ‘Scarlett Holmes’ will follow the titular heroine, a distant descendant of the legendary British detective who once revolutionized the world with his unique way of solving mysteries. With the help of her partner, naturally named Jane Watson, she will decipher the mysteries of love, dating, and interpersonal relationships. Perhaps they might even manage to decipher someone’s Tinder account.
Of course, there’s no Holmes that matters without his great rival on the path, and in this case it comes wrapped in a romantic twist. The mysterious and Machiavellian Ollie Moriarty will be the man who aims to topple his opponent’s career as a detective. His charms, his alluring charisma, and the voice with which he has wooed thousands of women through his podcast will pose the greatest challenge for Scarlett, for something within her will emerge that she did not expect to have to confront after seeing how it has affected the lives of hundreds of his clients.

Roku in Spain
‘Scarlett Holmes’ is a somewhat curious, and we hope very entertaining, experiment that Roku Channel will bring to the table in 2027, with no concrete date beyond the year. In our country, the service is accessible for free, but we will have to wait to see whether the rights to broadcast are acquired by another platform for distribution and dubbing, or if it will arrive only in the original version.
