On CBS, the return of the most beloved faces from NCIS might not be limited to the wonderful happenings that took place Tuesday night. Deadline reports that Scott Bakula, who for seven seasons led NCIS: New Orleans as Special Agent Dwayne Pride, will headline a new procedural in development at the network: an untitled project produced by the same Dean Devlin of Stargate and Independence Day.
Scott Bakula: Early Details of His New CBS TV Series
Written by Michael Sussman, a former co-creator of Perception and a screenwriter of Star Trek: Enterprise, another series in which Bakula starred, the procedural will be set in Los Angeles and will feature him in the role of a character, a detective, described as a true leap forward from the one he played in NCIS: New Orleans. Bakula will also contribute as an executive producer.
The buzz emerged the day after CBS welcomed back three other veteran faces of the NCIS franchise: Michael Weatherly in NCIS – Crime Unit, LL Cool J in NCIS: New York and Mark Harmon in NCIS: Origins. The moves proved immediately successful, with average viewership rising by 40%.
