The “Medici ai primi ferri” has disappeared from the title, given the decade of experience now under their belts, but J.D., his best friend Turk, and the other Scrubs characters still manage to have us laughing uproariously. In the wake of its US premiere, Disney+ reveals the Italian release date for the revival’s second season, the eleventh installment since the hospital comedy began airing: November 18, 2026, with a fresh episode every Wednesday.
Scrubs: how the story continues and who returns
In this most welcome return to Sacred Heart, the one hospital we would never want to leave, J.D., Turk, and Elliot (still portrayed by Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke) have moved from mere residents, sometimes the butt of someone’s jokes (mostly by the Janitor), to genuine icons. Now, as respected physicians, they inspire a new generation while facing the highs and lows of hospital life. Alongside familiar faces and new additions, J.D., Turk, and Elliot tackle this fresh chapter with humor, emotion, and a few surprises along the way. And while the laughter is assured, Sacred Heart remains a place of hardship at times, for the leads and for the fans. The finale of the revival’s first season had stunned everyone with the news that Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) faced an autoimmune disease diagnosis. In recent days, the official trailer had shown the cynic-in-chief confronting serious difficulties, raising profound questions about his medical and emotional journey.
Beyond these four enduring stars of the show, the new season will also welcome Judy Reyes back as Nurse Carla and Neil Flynn as the Janitor, as well as Christa Miller and Robert Maschio, i.e., Jordan and The Todd. We’ll see for the first time in the revival Scott Foley, who will reprise the role of Sean Kelly, one of Elliot’s most beloved and tormented ex-boyfriends, while Johnny Kastl, also appearing for the first time in the revival, will again play Dr. Doug Murphy. Still missing, however, is Ken Jenkins, the long-standing actor who portrayed Dr. Bob Kelso. Although creator Bill Lawrence had pushed hard for the production to bring the actor back, recent negotiations ended in another dead end, which is why he will not be part of the new season.
