Silo Could Expand: Hugh Howey Has Three Ideas for New Spin-Offs

Apple TV has confirmed that the fourth season of Silo, slated to premiere in the summer of 2027 on its streaming platform, will be the last one, but the author of the novels that inspired the TV adaptation has admitted to having other ideas for potential spin-offs. Originating on paper as the Silo Trilogy, the story of Juliette Nichols later thrilled television audiences with a series comprising three seasons and a fourth on the way. But which spin-offs might come to life, according to Hugh Howey?

Silo, the author of the novels has three hypothetical spin-offs in mind after the fourth season, and one is almost a reality

The post-apocalyptic world shown in Silo could still hold some surprises after the fourth and final season of the main TV series. To shed more light, Hugh Howey, author of the three novels from which the story of Juliette Nichols, played by Rebecca Ferguson, is drawn, spoke up. In a Reddit Q&A, the author addressed the possibility of new spin-offs and what he would like to see, starting from the initial prompt: “I think there are three paths we can follow: another Silo set in the same period, like Silo 40, which I’m writing now. Or focus on the earlier period (how we arrived at this point, how the people tried to stop it or survive). Or on the later period, which we can’t discuss before the end of the fourth season.”

Thus, several hypotheses are being considered by Hugh Howey: the first is a parallel spin-off, set in the same universe and the same period in which Silo 18 is facing its crisis. The second possibility is a prequel that retraces the origins of the problem, and the third would actually aim at a sequel. The good news is that Howey appears to be actively working on the Silo universe, having confirmed that he is developing a new Silo, the number 40.

The author is reportedly working on a new trilogy centered on Silo 40, a seemingly pivotal reality that would influence the events of the main narrative. Howey had also revealed on Reddit that this story will take place before Wool’s first volume and after Dust, the third. Given the different setting, the story will follow different characters and dynamics.
