Jeremy Saulnier is a very, very intriguing American director. He is the author of films such as Green Room and Blue Ruin, which you can stream on Prime Video, and of the recent Rebel Ridge, which is available on Netflix. He tends to tackle rough, taut, highly physical stories, but he is also capable of a powerful deep dive into the psychology of his characters. His new movie promises to push all of these traits to the limit: it is titled Slayground, a thriller that sits at the crossroads of action and horror, produced by A24, and in the United States it will arrive on January 29 (no official release date here yet).
Written by the director himself, the film — previously known as October — is set during Halloween week, and features Cory Michael Smith in the role of the main suspect in a massacre who escapes from the police station where he was being held. While he becomes the target of a massive manhunt, he must attempt to prove his innocence, but he will also have to confront a string of terrifying events that begin to unfold when he seeks refuge inside an abandoned, isolated Halloween-themed amusement park.
Joining the lead in the film’s cast are Chase Sui Wonders, Stanley Simons, Sophie Wilde, Young Mazino, Imogen Poots, Matty Matheson, James Badge Dale and Stephen Root.
This is the first teaser trailer for Slayground.
