A24 surprised audiences by releasing, ahead of the Resident Evil screening in American theaters, the quite unsettling teaser trailer for Jeremy Saulnier‘s new horror film, a director whose previous works in the genre we’ve appreciated. His new horror, previously known as October, is actually titled Slayground and will arrive in North America this fall, presumably around Halloween, since it’s described as an escape thriller set during the holiday. Before diving into the details of the plot and cast, we present the trailer.
Slayground: Plot and Cast
The first news about this film we reported last year, when little was known about the plot and the title was different. Now we can tell you more: Slayground takes its title from the name of the haunted tunnel ride at the fair where the protagonist works. The plot follows the character Cory Michael Smith, the main suspect in a mass murder investigation, after he escapes police custody. Fleeing in a bid to prove his innocence, he becomes the target of a massive manhunt. In the trailer we’ve seen scenes filmed from the cameras of this ride that blend the fake horrors of amusement-park attractions with something terrifyingly real. In addition to the aforementioned Cory Michael Smith, the cast includes Imogen Poots, James Badge Dale, Matty Matheson, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, Young Mazino and Stephen Root.
