As expected, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continues breaking records in its second week. The Marvel film grossed this weekend in the United States $145 million, raising its domestic total to $655 million. In just two weeks, the Tom Holland-led movie is already the year’s top-grossing film with $1.665 billion thanks to an impressive $1.01 billion earned in international markets.
With these figures, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ sits in the 12th place among the highest-grossing films in history, and it does not seem it will have much trouble climbing several more spots in this ranking in the coming weeks.
Among the records the film has broken in recent days are the best first ten days for a film at the U.S. box office and the second-fastest film to surpass $1 billion in international markets, only surpassed by ‘Avengers: Endgame’. It has come very close to achieving the second-best weekend in U.S. history, although those $145 million fall short of the $149 million of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ and the $147.3 million of ‘Endgame’. The gap is so narrow that final figures, which will take a few days to be revealed, could also grant this record to ‘Spider-Man’.
We remind you that the film carried a budget of $225 million, so it has already crushed profitability on several fronts since its release.
‘The Odyssey’ Also Surpasses the $1 Billion Barrier and Helps a Record Box Office
The success of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has not prevented Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ from continuing to break records. In its fourth week, the film remains the second most-watched over the weekend, and $31.5 million adds to its $461 million earned in the United States.
Worldwide, the film becomes the fifth title of the year to cross the $1 billion threshold, and it is already the second-highest grossing film of 2026 with $1.104 billion earned, only surpassed by ‘Spider-Man’. It is, moreover, the third Nolan film to surpass that psychological barrier of $1 billion after the films of ‘The Dark Knight’ and it now sits as the highest-grossing film of his career. The movie also ranks at position 41 on the all-time list of the highest-grossing films.
With these numbers and those of ‘Spider-Man’, the U.S. box office seems to be in a good moment, despite the stumble of some summer bets such as ‘Supergirl’ or ‘Moana’. The summer box office stands at $3.985 billion, and will surpass $4.0 billion this very week. These are excellent figures that could surpass the $4.755 billion box office currently listed as the summer record, dating back to 2013.
‘A Night a Year’ Captures Female Audiences in a Weekend with Lots of Premieres
The weekend’s third spot goes to the romantic comedy ‘A Night a Year’, starring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro. The film opens in third place with $5.7 million at the box office. A highly acceptable figure given the genre, and the film has been rated R in the United States. The movie follows two single people looking for a date on the one night of the year when premarital sex is allowed. Of the opening demographics, nearly 70% of the audience were women.
Another new release sneaks into fourth place. ‘Super Troopers 3’ debuts with a modest $4 million at the box office, far from the $15.1 million with which the second part opened and even more distant from the $6.2 million with which the original opened 25 years ago.
The fifth place of the weekend goes to ‘Toy Story 5’, which in its eighth week still holds up with $3.9 million for a total of $470.4 million in the United States. It has been a bittersweet weekend for the film, which despite its strong numbers was displaced to third place among the year’s top-grossing films just days after reaching the lead.
Sixth place of the weekend goes to ‘Minions & Monsters’, which despite an uneven start has now accumulated $176 million in the United States and $473 million worldwide. Now, in its sixth week in theaters, it has earned another $3.5 million.
‘Moana’ sits in seventh place with $2.8 million and a total of $121.4 million. Although Disney’s live-action film had as disastrous a start as ‘Supergirl’, it has managed to right the pace a bit better over time. While neither film will turn a profit, ‘Moana’ has accumulated $280 million worldwide compared to $126 million for ‘Supergirl’.
In eighth place on the box office is another weekend release, Eli Roth’s horror film ‘Ice Cream Man’. $2.01 million at the box office for a film that Roth himself distributed through his own company, with a modest budget of $5.5 million.
In ninth place remains Olivia Wilde’s ‘The Invite’, adding $717,568 to its $24.2 million box office. The film, which has already begun its international circuit, has accumulated $42.9 million worldwide.
Closing the top 10 of the week is a rarity, ‘CatVideoFest 2026’. A 70-minute compilation of the year’s best internet cat videos. Surprisingly, the film reached $568,414 at the box office.
