Stephen King’s Multiverse Comes to Life: Could Carrie Cross Paths with The Institute?

Could there be a crossover between The Institute and Carrie? Never say never, considering that both stories reference a literary work born from the imagination of Stephen King. Born from the same pen, could they interact on screen as well? The Institute reached the platform of MGM+ in 2025 and returned with a second season, while Carrie is among the novelties of 2026 and has already been approved for a second season. It naturally raises the question of whether these two narrative universes could communicate with each other and the cast involved has provided the answer.

Could Carrie and The Institute Propose a Crossover? Here’s What the Cast Hopes For and Why It Might Happen

Carrie has become one of the most hotly debated titles on Prime Video. Starring Summer H. Howell, the story, adapted from Stephen King’s novel, follows a teenage girl who is forced to live in a house and, after her father’s death, must enter society and attend the city’s high school. Carrie possesses extraordinary abilities that recall somewhat those of the protagonists in The Institute, but in this case the kids become prisoners of an organization that aims to exploit their potential for a secret plan. Carrie, instead, uses her powers as an expression of her distress, and the senior prom marks a turning point for her actions.

But would a crossover between these two TV realities be possible? After all, the two platforms are in communication, since MGM+ and Prime Video are both owned by Amazon. Moreover, some members of the The Institute cast, such as Arlen So and Fionn Laird, would look kindly on a crossover: “Jack Bender, Mike Flanagan. Let’s make it happen, please. This is what I will say,” revealed Fionn Laird, who plays Nick Wilholm in The Institute. Arlen So, who portrays George, admitted that “it would be a dream, certainly, it would be so surreal and fantastic.”

An idea that could materialize sooner or later, but it’s not clear how or when. In the meantime, The Institute’s second season is back on streaming on MGM+ from November 8, 2026 with weekly episode releases and has not yet been renewed for a third season. In any case, Carrie may have paved the way for this crossover by introducing into the plot a secret organization composed of women with psychic abilities referencing the TK gene and suggesting that the second season will delve even deeper into this theme, given that the group’s leader Adelaide is on the trail of Carrie and Emaline.
