On Netflix, November 20 will bring a film produced by Amy Pohler, reimagining Cinderella’s tale from a fresh angle. It is titled Steps and grows out of an idea from the folk‑comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates, namely Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci. The direction is by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, and the impressive original voice cast features Amanda Seyfried as Cinderella, Stephanie Hsu as Margot, Bette Midler as the Fairy Godmother, Nikki Glaser as Priscilla, Young Mazino as Gef, alongside Daniel Radcliffe, LaNisa Renee Frederick, Jordyn Weitz and Peter Dinklage. After the teaser released this summer, the lively official trailer has arrived, and we’re happy to share it with you.
Steps: The Plot
This time, Cinderella’s tale is told from the viewpoint of the unfairly maligned stepsister Lilith. When, by accident, she turns the other stepsister, Margot, into a frog, the kingdom falls under the sway of a wicked girl, and the two still‑human stepsisters, with the little frog by their side, must join forces with a troll to save the realm and restore the fairy tale to its rightful ending, proving that even the so‑called villains deserve a happy ending, in a revisionist take on Cinderella that, from the looks of the imagery, should be very funny and that makes the character more human, to the point of… making her sweat.
