Today is not an ordinary day. Today is the Stranger Things Day, the first since the hugely popular supernatural series created by the Matt and Ross Duffer brothers concluded. Amazingly, not much time will pass before we return to the Upside Down, because, on a day that could only be this one, the streaming service announced the surprise order of Other Worlds: An Adventure of Stranger Things, a new prequel series arriving in 2028. Here is the first teaser trailer.
The First Details of Other Worlds: An Adventure of Stranger Things
Created again by the Duffer brothers, this time together with the original series’ screenwriter Kate Trefry, who also serves as showrunner, and directed for the first three episodes by Joe Wright (M – The Son of the Century, The Agency), Other Worlds: An Adventure of Stranger Things will tell an original story set in the mid-1950s, before the well-known and gripping events of Hawkins, Indiana, and before the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The live-action series will take us to Marion, Nevada. Further details are not available, but judging from the eerie teaser trailer, the abandoned bicycle, the sign warning against entry to a restricted area, and the Upside Down in 2028, we can easily imagine what might await us.
“Stranger Things has always belonged to the fans, and their passion has turned it into a global phenomenon,” said Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of scripted series for the United States and Canada, in a statement. “Today, on Stranger Things Day, we are honored to collaborate again with Matt and Ross Duffer and Kate Trefry to offer fans a new dimension of this universe to immerse themselves in. Other Worlds: An Adventure of Stranger Things takes us back to the 1950s, introducing new heroes while preserving all the heart, the mystery and the spectacle of the original series. We are proud to continue building this world together with the Duffer brothers, Kate, Shawn Levy and Joe Wright, and we can’t wait for fans to discover what lies ahead.”
The Duffer brothers said: “For many years we have dreamed of Other Worlds: An Adventure of Stranger Things, and seeing it become a reality is something surreal and thrilling.
