There would be no Tulsa King without Sylvester Stallone, and certainly the actor would not have refused the chance for his daughter to join his latest successful television venture at Paramount+. With a fourth season currently in progress and a fifth about to begin filming, Tulsa King stands as one of the most gripping titles of recent years, guided by the creative leadership of Taylor Sheridan and Stallone’s artistic support. And it was the actor himself, recently, who faced head-on the criticism directed at the TV series for involving his daughter Scarlet Rose Stallone.
Tulsa King, Sylvester Stallone does not deny helping his daughter: “That’s why we’re parents”
Since the first season, Scarlet Rose Stallone has portrayed Spencer, a barista and stablehand whose role has steadily grown as the seasons progressed, drawing ever closer to the criminal empire of Dwight Manfredi. Over the years, many have voiced their disapproval, accusing Stallone of nepotism for aiding his daughter’s entry into the cast, and his response arrived recently.
Speaking to USA Today, the actor did not hedge his words: “First they come out saying, ‘Nepotism is a terrible thing.’ I answer, ‘Please, you’re not a good parent if you’ve never leaned on a bit of nepotism. Otherwise it’s obvious you don’t care about your children, because they come first of all.’ Of course it’s nepotism, you idiot. That’s why we’re parents. We want the best for our children. So, naturally, we make sure they have every possible advantage.” The Rocky star does not hide the fact that he helped his daughter secure a role in Tulsa King, but under an unbreakable condition: Scarlet would have to prove she deserved that place anyway. “Will they be able to maintain that level of excellence? That’s not up to us anymore. But if you have the chance to open a door for them, then it will be up to them to prove they have the chops to walk through it. People will say, ‘She landed that job, it was too easy.’ You’re right. Maybe it is. But to keep that role, to stand in front of millions of people, either you’ve got the talent or you don’t.”
While her father answers the critics, Scarlet Stallone keeps advancing in Hollywood: the latest news places her at the forefront of the film and television adaptation of the video game franchise Fears to Fathom. “I’ve been playing video games since before I could read, and the first time I tried Fears to Fathom I was hooked. Since then I’ve played them all. Rayll’s games are realistic and genuinely unsettling because the horror stems from situations you could encounter in real life. I love working with Rayll; we’re a fantastic team, and I’m thrilled to expand that world while keeping intact what fans love,” she stated in a press release. Scarlet Stallone has acquired the rights to the franchise through her SRYN Productions and will work closely with the creator Mukul Negi, known as Rayll.
